Braidy Industries and Eastern Kentucky

Our new greenfield project, located in the South Shore region of Greenup County in Eastern Kentucky, will be a boon to the local economy, providing hundreds of long-term, high paying jobs to the region.

Working closely with local, state, and federal governments and trade groups, we plan to help revitalize coal country, drawing on its large pool of skilled labor to build and operate a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility.

Join us in our effort to return Eastern Kentucky to its rightful place of prominence in American manufacturing, and build a long-lasting pillar of the local economy.

Reimagining Coal Country

“At this point, no one ‘owns’ or embraces the title of manufacturing hub of excellence in the world. I believe that Kentucky can be that hub of excellence.”

– Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin

Going back to the 19th Century, Kentucky has played a central role in the American economy, with coal production driving a large part of its impact. However, the region has suffered as reliance on domestic coal production has gone down significantly over the past few decades.

Along with Governor Bevin and other prominent regional stakeholders, Braidy Industries is determined to rebuild Eastern Kentucky based on new economic opportunities. Advanced manufacturing is pivotal in that effort, and our new factory will be Ground Zero for transforming the region.

Our Facility

Our 2.5 million square-foot, fully integrated aluminum rolling mill will be built on 300 acres near Ashland, KY, with an investment of $1.3 billion. This is the largest project of its kind in the region, and the newly built aluminum mill in the United States in more than 30 years.

During the building phase, from 2018-2020, we will be creating up to 1000 construction jobs. Once it’s up and running, the factory will employ approximately 500 people on a full-time basis, with high-paying skilled labor and administrative positions available.

By working with local groups, including the Ashland Alliance, we are proud to be able to bring greater economic opportunity to the people of Eastern Kentucky.
